Dutch Open Air Museum

History can be viewed from many angles. That versatility is reflected in the Dutch Open Air Museum. Here you will find buildings, objects and stories of up to two hundred years old. But also memories of your own childhood. You will contemplate the great events of our history and the 'small' moments of everyday life. You will delve into complex conflicts from our history or simply enjoy a walk in the green surroundings. In this museum you will discover where you and others come from, from Baarn to Bali, and think about where things are going.

Then and now
As you walk through the green museum park, you will discover that people in the past had about the same questions and problems as we do now. Like us, they often solved them by working together and using the resources they had intelligently. You experience how people lived with each other and with their environment. You see what is different and what has remained the same.

Fun for kids
Kids won't get bored for a second at the museum. There is plenty to do in the Children's Yard: here guest worm Wiep takes you to all the locations. Different activities recur in the yard, such as practicing milking a cow, carrying buckets with a yoke and doing laundry with a wringer. In addition, you can visit the worm hotel. Finally, don't forget to end your visit to the museum with a visit to the playground. Here you can bake the most beautiful sand cakes and slide down the cable car.

Canon of the Netherlands
Experience the fifty most important events from our past in the Canon of the Netherlands. In ten enormous 'film sets' you can see, hear and feel the highs and lows of Dutch history. See impressive masterpieces from various museums, discover the VOC mentality and play one of the interactive games.
